ABOUT THE SUGAR LAND 95
In 2018 Fort Bend Independent School District ignored warnings from local Activists, Historian, and Caretaker of the Old Imperial Farm Cemetery, Mr. Reginald Moore and commenced building the James Reese Career Technical Center on the site of a former State Prison Plantation known as, Bullhead Camp. In the building process they unearthed the remains of 95 men and boys who were victims of a Convist Leasing contract between Imperial Sugar and the State of Texas.
An initial analysis of the remains showed that the Sugar Land 95 were buried between the late 1800s and early 1900s. During this time, in the south, Black Codes were in effect to target and incarcerate newly freed enslaved Africans to be imprisoned and continue their slave labor under the cloak of the Prison Industrial Complex.
It is imperative that we connect the Ancestral dots and locate the possible descendants of the Sugar Land 95 so proper analysis can be completed.
